Hawaiʻi Island Overview
The island of Hawaiʻi is the youngest and largest of the Hawaiian Islands. All of the other Hawaiian Islands can easily fit within its periphery. With active volcanoes, Hawaiʻi Island’s energy is one of creation and discovery, a state-of-mind that sets the stage for rewarding and productive events.
With all but four of the world’s climate zones represented in its diverse terrains, Hawaiʻi Island provides inspiration at every turn – in the deep blue ocean and sandy beaches, at cultural and historical sites or while hiking its lush valleys and rainforests.
Program attendees can see some of the most pivotal sites in Hawaiian history and visit a volcano. From the crystal blue waters of the Kona and Kohala Coasts, to the black sands of Punaluʻu to the lush, botanical gardens and waterfalls of the Hāmākua Heritage Corridor, there is a world of diversity to experience on this rich, storied island that invites exploration, adventure and restoration.
Each of the island’s towns has a distinctive flair — from the paniolo (cowboy) feel of upcountry Waimea to the artist vibe of Hāwī. Hawaiʻi Island is also a place to indulge in culinary adventures and world-class spas to heal spirit and soul.
Planners will find Hawaiʻi Island’s meeting and convention options as distinct as the island itself, from elegant ballrooms to oceanfront settings perfect for corporate retreats. Hawaiʻi Island has more than 6,000 hotel rooms (not including alternative accommodations such as retreats/lodges, vacation rentals, bed and breakfasts and more).
Outside of the major resorts, off-property venues can be found in verdant pastures (Kahuā Ranch), amidst acres of coffee farms (Hōlualoa Inn) or on manicured, emerald green lawns surrounded by pitch-black lava (Waikoloa Bowl at Queens’ Garden).
Hawaiʻi Island Activities
