President of The Peter Apo Company, LLC, providing Hawaiian cultural planning consulting services. Founding member of the Native Hawaiian Hospitality Association and its past chairman and Director of Culture & Education. Chairs the Historic Hawaii Foundation and Pacific Islanders in Communications. Career in public service began in 1975 with election as first chair of the Waianae Neighborhood Board. Elected to first board of trustees of the Office of Hawaiian Affairs. Served as a legislator in the State House of Representatives for 14 years. Appointed by Mayor Jeremy Harris as Director of Culture and Arts and later Director of Waikiki Development for the City and County of Honolulu. Appointed as Special Assistant on Hawaiian Affairs to Governor Ben Cayetano. Continues serving the community on numerous boards and commissions.
