Frank Haas is Director for Strategic Development and Assistant Dean at the University of Hawaii School of Travel Industry Management. He teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in tourism marketing as well as the Executive Development in Tourism (EDIT) program for travel professionals.
Prior to joining the university, Frank served as Vice President and Director of Marketing for the Hawaii Tourism Authority, the state's lead tourism agency, overseeing $50 million in marketing programs and contracts. His marketing career in Hawaii includes advertising and marketing positions in tourism, fast food, and high tech. In 1999-2000, he was national chair of the 40,000 member American Marketing Association. Frank earned an undergraduate degree in journalism and an MBA from Northwestern University. Frank has been a featured speaker at international, national, and Hawai'i conferences on marketing.
He has been recognized with awards including the Wayne Lemburg Award given by the American Marketing Association for distinguished service, the Pizza Hut Franchise Marketer of the Year, and Advertising Man of the Year and the Silver Medal for the Honolulu Ad Federation.
