Makoa Quest is a nonprofit organization partnering with native Hawaiian cultural practitioners who lead culturally immersive experiences for groups of 10 or more. Our Quests include cultural protocol and orientations. Examples include: Volunteering in a loʻi, outrigger canoe paddle and rock wall restoration at a loko iʻa, hula dancing and lei making lesson and ʻawa ceremony.
These Quests aim to pay cultural practitioners gainfully for work that is educational (and not entertainment based) while also raising money for our free programs to the community including our Hawaiian Outdoor Education camp, free for 25 youth each year from Maui Economic Opportunity, raising money for youth aging out of foster care and paying Hawaiian cultural practitioners to bring teachings to Maui Community Correctional Center.
We seek to radiate wealth back into the native Hawaiian community at every step of our work.
